I’m glad you found my site! I write creative stories, both fiction and nonfiction, and occasionally put up a blog post. Feel free to peruse the site and to contact me.
The photo above captures part of the view from my neighborhood on the west side of Fort Collins, Colorado. Hiking up the closest ridge is one of my favorite ways to get my body moving — but always with some caution, since bears and mountain lions sometimes cross through the area and rattlesnakes like to curl up in the middle of the trail to bask in the sun. When skirting around a rattler, I have to remind myself to respect these and other creatures for the roles they play in our fragile ecosystem.
“Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together. All things connect.” – Paraphrased from a statement by Chief Seattle, 1854
Facing Lyme disease, a global epidemic: Throughout my adult life unexplained health challenges have slowed me down, sometimes debilitated me, and finally culminated in the diagnosis of chronic Lyme in 2014. Through the last couple of decades most of my energy went to trying to figure out what was wrong and to raising my daughter. These days, I devote much of each day to healing. But I also make time to study and write about various aspects of this emerging epidemic — including how climate change is affecting the rise of vector-borne diseases. How do we, as humans, respond to this rise? What steps can we take?
